HfA now accepting Nuit Blanche North proposals

Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) is thrilled to invite artist proposals for the 12th edition of Nuit Blanche North to be held on July 20, 2024.

Recognized as a signature Huntsville event, Nuit Blanche North (NbN) is a bold interactive multi-arts street festival taking place in Downtown Huntsville, Ontario. For one night only from 8 pm to 2 am, the streets of downtown Huntsville will come alive with an exciting program of contemporary artistic activities, events and exhibits taking place in unconventional places in and around the downtown core. The event is sponsored by TD Bank: The Ready Commitment.

The deadline for artist proposals is March 29th at 5 pm. Projects should encourage audiences to explore, discover, debate, and participate in contemporary art and the public spaces that surround them.

This year’s theme is “LET IT PERCOLATE”. To percolate is to ‘pass through slowly’, when ‘an idea, feeling, or piece of information percolates through a group of people or a thing, it spreads slowly through the group or thing’. HfA invites projects that reflect on the notion of gradual permeation of objects, thoughts, and feelings, and how we individually and collectively can experience these transformations. HfA is particularly interested in projects that involve participation of community members or visitors to the event. Priority will be given to those projects which explore this theme in relationship to the Muskoka/Parry Sound region.

Any venue in the downtown core is possible, and local businesses, cultural and religious institutions are encouraged to join in by opening their doors and offering free access to contemporary art. Interested artists can apply at: huntsvillefestival.ca
