Hey, Rosetta to headline Band on the Run music festival at new venue: Lookout Field

Organizers for Band on the Run, Huntsville’s popular road race that features bands along the race route, announced to their followers yesterday that Canadian indie band Hey, Rosetta will headline the post-race music festival.

The band played a sold-out show at the Algonquin Theatre last summer. “They blew everyone in the audience away. What a performance! We immediately started talking about how PERFECT they would be for a June afternoon in the park. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face and get your toes tapping,” Band on the Run organizers told followers via email.

Hey, Rosetta

Based on feedback from last year’s event, the music festival will be moved from its former venue of River Mill Park to Lookout Field, just up the hill from the Active Living Centre.

“We heard a lot about the difficulties people had in seeing the stage when the Jim Cuddy Band came on last year. Our sincere apologies for the frustrations you experienced. We are pleased to announce that we have a solution. This new, larger location has the added perk of having enough space for a designated area where people can set up their portable chairs. We know you had a hard run in the morning and sometimes you just want to sit down to drink your beer.”

Three bands will perform at the festival – the other two will be announced in the coming months.

Admission to the festival is included with race registration or non-racers can purchase tickets starting at 6:30pm on Wednesday, February 8. Band on the Run is on the morning of June 10 with the music festival occurring from 2:00-6:00pm.

As of this week, 800 participants have already signed up for one of the road race’s five options: half marathon, 10K, 5K, 5K walking or Kids’ Run. Registration fees will increase when that number reaches 1000.
