Hawks lacrosse has big moments this week

The Huntsville Hawks saw their U7 team take to the floor for the first time, while older teams also battled in tournaments in a week filled with pride and action.

The youngest Hawks received two goals from Mackenzie West in their debut against the Barrie Bombers.

Meanwhile, the U9-1 Hawks fought hard during the Fergus Tournament, with a score of 1-3, and a couple of very close games. Game 1 was a 10-7 loss to West Grey, with Declan Cole (7) and Boden Shirtliff (2) scoring for Huntsville. Game 2 was a tight 8-7 loss to Milton with Kayden Clark (2), Rhett Peddie, Cole, Archer Heming, and Shirtliff scoring. Game 3 was a 6-2 loss to Arthur, with Cole and Peddie netting the goals. Game 4 was an 11-1 victory with goals by Cole (3), Clark (2), Peddie (2), Shirtliff (2), Levi Morrison, and Audrey Sen.

The U9-2 Hawks were B finalists in the Arthur Tournament. After falling 16-8 to Tyendinaga, they replied to beat West Durham 2 15-1. Unfortunately, they fell 14-3 in the B final. Bodhi Pearson (5), Blake Moore, William Lomas, and Jaxon Napholc scored against Tyendinaga. Moore (4), Lomas (4), Pearson (3), Rixon Darby, Van Graham-Smith, Finn O’Hea scored against West Durham. Moore (2) and Pearson scored in the final.

The U11-1 Hawks picked up a pair of league wins this week, 7-4 over Orillia 1 and 8-2 over Midland 1. Jacob Rudge (2), Max Guy (2), Knox McLaren, Kael Liadis, and Lucas Chavuson found the net against Orillia. Colton Scott (2), Guy (2), McLaren (2), Chavuson, and Nolan Stevenson scored against Midland.

The U11-2 Hawks fell 14-6 against Orillia 2 in league play with Xavier Dinner (2), Gavin Cooper, Cole Schmidt, Maxwell Robert, and Lorin Vandenheuvel scoring. Then in the Owen Sound Tournament, the team dropped all four games. Game 1 versus the host Owen Sound 1 21-0; Game 2 versus West Grey 1 9-4 with Dinner (3) and Schmidt scoring; Game 3 14-3 with Dinner (2) and Vandenheuvel finding the net; then 13-0 against the hosts in the final.

The U13 Hawks went 1-1 in league play, picking up a 10-2 win over Midland 3 with Calvin Shirtliff (4), Nevin French (3), Carter Lamb, Silas Cochrane scoring and then a 11-1 loss to Barrie 1 with French getting the long tally. In the Owen Sound Tournament, the result were a 6-5 loss in Game 1 against Windsor with goals by French (3), Gabriel Dinner, and Lamb; a 10-5 loss to Owen Sound 1 with Shirtliff (3) and French (2) getting the tallies; a 7-6 loss to Hamilton 1 with Shirtliff (2), French (2), Presley Schmeler, and Dinner providing the goals; and finally a 6-3 Game 4 loss to Orangeville 2 with French (2) and Schmeler scoring.

The U15 Hawks picked up a 9-1 league win over Orillia 1 with Oren French (5), Jared Allen (3), and Tucker Tomlinson tallying for the Hawks. In the Owen Sound Tournament, the results were an 8-2 loss to Hamilton in Game 1 with Derrick Daley (2), Colton Munro, Bryce Sogan, Kayden Lord, Reid Michaluk (2), and Ryder Strauch scoring; an 8-2 Game 2 vs West Grey 1 with French (4), Sage Liadis, James Bulloch, and Carter Pegg scoring; a 6-5 loss in Game 3 vs Owen Sound where French, Liadis (2), Logan Sen, and Bulloch found the net; and a 7-4 loss to Hamilton with Sen, Liadis, and French (2) getting the goals. 

The U17 Hawks grabbed a strong 8-4 over Barrie this week with Carson Frasier (3), Avery Shirtliff (2), Braeden Higgs, Carter Quinlan, and Jake Earl scoring.
