Gwyneth Christine McKay passed away on April 2, 2026, at the Pines Long Term Care Home in Bracebridge, ON. Born January 11, 1941, Gwyn was 85 at the time of her passing after a short battle with cancer.
Gwyn was born in Jamaica to Eric Carlton Ormsby and Flauna Joyce (Lloyd) Ormsby and immigrated to Canada in 1952. Married in 1962, she and her husband started a horse training and breeding facility in Hillsdale, ON. She later moved to Guelph, ON, remarried and worked for DHI until her retirement. She then moved to Kilworthy, ON where she settled until her passing. Horses and her Schnauzers were a lifelong passion.
Gwyn is predeceased by her parents, stepparents, both husbands and her brother and stepsister. She leaves behind a large family, including her half-brother Stephen (Berna) Ormsby, stepbrothers Roderick (Judy) Nailer and Jim (Linda) Nailer, and a younger half-brother, Eric (Rose) Ormsby, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews. She surrounded herself with numerous friends who shared her many interests.
Gwyn will be interned at Memory Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery in Breslau, Ontario. A Celebration of Life will be held May 3, 2026, at the Scout Hall, 425 John Street South, in Gravenhurst, ON, and starts at 11:30 am. Donations in Gwyn’s name may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Farley’s Foundation.
