Gravenhurst man’s third impaired comes in at quadruple the legal limit

A Gravenhurst man was back in court recently after adding to his list of impaired driving-related convictions.

Stephen England, 56, pled guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system.

Court heard that on Sept. 22, 2022, at roughly 11:47 am police received a complaint regarding a van swerving on Hwy 169 in Gravenhurst.

The Bracebridge OPP caught up with the van and observed it was being driven at varying speeds.

The driver, England, was pulled over and police smelled alcohol.

He ultimately blew readings of 350 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, more than four times the legal limit.

Court heard England has two previous convictions for impaired driving.

He was sentenced to 60 days in jail to be served intermittently, 12 months probation and a three-year driving ban.
