Sewing workshop 1

Give something handmade this holiday season: free adult sewing drop-in is back

Local quilters and retired teachers Mary Spring and Terri Howell are once again hosting a free drop-in sewing session for adults.

Thanks to a District of Muskoka Pay It Forward grant, anyone can stop by and make a Christmas gift for someone in their life. Ideas for gifts include pillow cases, place mats, napkins, zippered bags, and scarves. All materials and sewing machines are provided. No sewing experience is necessary.

In the past, the pair have also hosted free landscape quilting workshops for local students to share their love for the art, and with the help of community created two Canada 150 quilts that were donated to the Town of Huntsville.

Their newest workshop will be on December 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Annex next to Huntsville Public Library. See some examples of what you could create below.
