GIP training centre convoy to pass through Huntsville on its way to support Ring of Fire communities

Green Infrastructure Partners (GIP) is mobilizing a major convoy of training centre supplies, equipment, and fully outfitted units enroute to Northern Ontario in support of Ring of Fire communities.

The convoy left Ram Forest Road, Gormley, at 6 a.m. this morning and is making its way to Pickle Lake, at which point preparations will be made to ensure that winter roads are appropriate for travelling.

The convoy’s route will include passing through the following townships/municipalities: Barrie, Orillia, Huntsville, Temiskaming Shores/New Liskeard, Larder Lake, North Bay, Matheson, Cochrane and Thunder Bay to Pickle Lake.

This trip will take an estimated 3 days to complete, with its final destination at the Ring of Fire.

The convoy includes heavy equipment, mobile fabrication systems, skilled trades training units, and logistical support vehicles. These assets will help establish local training capacity, equipment operator certification programs, and remote steel fabrication capability.

This mobilization represents a proactive step toward creating employment opportunities,  supporting housing development, strengthening emergency preparedness, and building long-term economic resilience in northern communities. By delivering training infrastructure directly to the region, GIP aims to develop a skilled local workforce, reduce reliance on external labour, and support responsible infrastructure growth across the  North. The convoy will travel through multiple Ontario townships.

All movements are fully permitted and coordinated to ensure safety and minimize disruption to local traffic. GIP remains committed to working collaboratively with  Indigenous leadership, community members, and government partners to build sustainable, long-term infrastructure solutions that create real opportunities for northern residents.
