Come clink a glass over inspiring conversations worth having at Community Living Huntsville’s 2022 Autumn Brunch in October.
Community Living Huntsville hosts its signature Autumn Brunch fundraiser at Grandview Golf Club, 245 Grandview Drive North, Huntsville, on Sunday, October 2, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The event features a mimosa mingle, silent auction, live music, and full brunch with motivational speakers Allison Bobbette, a singer-songwriter and inclusion advocate, and Chris Beesley, CEO for Community Living Ontario. Deadline to purchase tickets is September 26.
“The last couple of years have been difficult, especially for people with developmental disabilities. The isolation has been severe. This event will bring people together for a beautiful morning of community, positivity, and hope, which are feelings a lot of us want to embrace and nurture now,” says Jennifer Jerrett, Community Engagement Specialist for Community Living Huntsville. “Community Living Huntsville is also celebrating its 60th anniversary of inspiring
possibilities for inclusion in North Muskoka this year, so it’s an opportunity to note how far we have come as a community, and inspire action on the work still to be done.”
Silent auction items include a Pulse Geod 11-foot stand up paddle board package from Algonquin Outfitters, Serena Ryder concert tickets from Huntsville Festival of the Arts, six escape room passes from Zig Zag Escape Rooms, and more.
Funds raised will support Community Living Huntsville’s Transitional Housing Initiative for adults the organization supports, who have developmental disabilities and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It provides stable housing for up to four years, plus housing-related skills building and support to find permanent housing. The initiative relies on fundraised dollars, donations, and charitable grants to continue.
“Housing remains a crucial issue in a difficult market. In this month alone, three people we support have found themselves without a home because the apartments they rented were sold,” says Jerrett. “Our team continues to work hard on innovative ways to support people to find and keep a roof over their heads, whether that’s building relationships with area landlords, navigating support systems and facilitating rent subsidies, supporting people to follow housing leads, or maintaining our Transitional Housing Initiative. Housing is central to community inclusion.”
Autumn Brunch tickets are $55 for adults, $25 for children ages 6 to 12, and complimentary for children ages 5 and younger. Tickets are available online at www.clhuntsville.ca/autumn-brunch/. Jerrett thanked the organization’s 2022 event partners, including Shoppers Drug Mart Huntsville, Enbridge Fueling Futures, Near North Business Machines, and Mathews Dinsdale, for their support.
