Passed suddenly at his home in Huntsville, Ontario, at the age of 61.
Beloved husband of Michelle Haskin (née Coons), father of Andrea Burger (Derek) and Brooke Mulvihill (Jordan), and grandfather “Bepaw” to Myah, Brody, and Lexi. Survived by his siblings John Haskin (Leona), Margaret (Basil), David (Margaret), Thelma (Kevin), Donna (Darryl), and Neil (Cynthia). George is pre-deceased by his parents, Elgin and Mona; his daughter, Tiffany; his sister, Phyllis, and brother-in-law, Gilbert.
George was born in Madawaska and began his family there, later moving to Pembroke. He worked in forestry, then studied electronics at college, which led him to work in Ottawa and travel widely. He relocated to Huntsville and married his wife, Michelle, in 2008. They had many adventures together, including remote fishing trips, canoe-tripping, ice fishing, building an addition onto their home, gardening, and woodworking projects. He was happy to share his time and many skills with friends and family, always ready with a joke and a smile. He cherished time with his daughters and grandkids, whether it was just hanging out, sitting around the fire, or on the annual camping trip.
George’s life was marked by love for family and friends, enjoyment of the outdoors, and quiet strength. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many. May his memory and example continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration.
Visitation with the family will be at Billingsley Funeral Home in Huntsville on Saturday, September 13, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. There will be a celebration of life at the Madawaska Complex Community Centre on Saturday, September 20, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Interment will be for the immediate family the following day in Madawaska.
