G1 licence holder charged with driving impaired on highway

A person has been charged following a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver on Highway 400.

On January 17, 2026, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound and Bracebridge detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a possible impaired driver travelling on Highway 400. Police located the vehicle on Highway 400 and conducted a traffic stop.

Robin CHATTERJEE, 47-years-old, from Vaughn was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs
  • Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver
  • Class G1 licence holder – drive on prohibited highway
  • Obstruct plate
  • Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
  • Driver fail to surrender licence

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on February 19, 2026.
