Fundraising breakfast for Community Living Huntsville – May 4, 2016

The Town of Huntsville invites local residents to Investing in Inclusion, a special fundraising breakfast in support of Community Living Huntsville, on Wednesday May 4, 2016, 8-9am at the Royal Canadian Legion, 21 Veteran’s Way.

“The Town of Huntsville is proud to support Investing in Inclusion,” said Mayor Scott Aitchison, “and I invite others in the community to join us on Wednesday May 4th and do the same.”

Community Living Huntsville has been hosting presentations to the community called Celebrating Inclusion Tours. “The purpose is to share information about the work Community Living Huntsville does with people who have an intellectual disability,” said Judith Ruan, Past President of the Board of Directors, Community Living Huntsville, “but more importantly, to share our experience of how adequate supports can assist people with an intellectual disability to become decision-makers in their own lives, live lives with hope and purpose, and make meaningful contributions to the community.”

In many cases, the difference between opportunity and despair is access to supports that assist people to make decisions in their own lives, live independently, have paid employment and become fully engaged in the community…living, working, volunteering and enjoying a wide variety of leisure pursuits.

Community Living Huntsville will utilize the fundraised dollars to provide support and services to those in need that fall below the eligibility criteria for Ministry-funded support. Community Living Huntsville has identified a growing number of people who are in need of these supports but who are not eligible.

The goal is to raise $150,000 in 2016 to develop a modest program of supports and services that can be accessed by those who would otherwise have no means of assistance.

To RSVP to the fundraising breakfast please contact Diane Lupton at 705-789-4543 X226. To make a donation please contact Andrea Johnston x230.
