The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation is inviting community members to a night of games, live music, dancing, a silent auction, and great food for a good cause.
Please mark your calendars for Saturday, November 1, and join other community-minded individuals at the Hidden Valley Ski Hill Lodge for an unforgettable night in support of The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation and its growing vision to serve the community through The Table Plaza.
Organizers are hoping to raise $50,000 for Phase I of The Table Plaza, which includes initiatives such as the exchange thrift store, The Table Emporium (an affordable grocery store utilizing mostly food rescued products), and The Table Food Bank. A Table art gallery and art hub is also planned at a later stage as part of Phase 1, explained The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation Founder and Executive Director Heather Cassie.
Phase 2 includes plans for a warming and cooling centre, counselling spaces, various programming, The Table Café, and the expansion of The Table Soup Kitchen meals.
Cassie explained that none of the existing services will be discontinued. However, new services will be added, and existing services expanded, as The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation takes over the space where FreshCo was previously located. She said the men’s shelter, as well as The Table Community Kitchen, would continue operating.
The final phase, Phase 3, is to convert The Table’s properties at 9, 11, and 13 Hanes Street to affordable housing while keeping the hostel and community kitchen.
Tickets are $100. For more details about the fundraiser or to purchase a ticket, please click HERE.
