Funding available for improvements to village cores in Lake of Bays

The Township of Lake of Bays has opened applications for the 2026 Community Improvement Plan (CIP) incentive programs.

The programs provide grants and loans to help property owners make practical improvements in the village cores of Baysville, Dorset, Dwight and Hillside.

“A strong Township starts with strong businesses and steady, thoughtful development in our village areas,” said Morgan Lonsdale, Economic Development Officer. “The challenge is that a lot of the projects that would really benefit the community are simply out of reach for one owner to take on alone. The CIP helps bridge that gap. It gives people the boost they need to move forward, and the whole community feels the impact when those improvements happen.”

What funding is available

Eligible applicants may receive:

  • Grants that cover up to half of project costs, up to $5,000
  • Loans of up to $10,000, depending on the project type

Projects that may qualify

  • Storefront improvements such as paint, signage or accessibility upgrades
  • Building enhancements that support business operations or growth
  • Creating attainable housing units

The programs accept applications twice a year. The intake periods run from January to March and again from July to September.

To get started, book a pre-consultation with the program coordinator before completing the online application at lakeofbays.on.ca/cip.
