Saturday, July 7 — Rotary Dockfest, Sunrise Swim for Healthcare and Ironman Kids Run
July 7 events
- The Sunrise Swim for Healthcare at 7 a.m. is in support of the Huntsville Hospital Foundation. Click the link to register for the swim, or just donate to the cause
- The Ironkids Muskoka Fun Run at 10 a.m. supports the Kiwanis Club of Huntsville Muskoka. Register your kids online before noon on July 6 or at the start line on run day.
- Rotary Dockfest begins at 10 a.m. with ArtSplash in River Mill Park, followed by a parade of bathtubs at 11, the bathtub derby from noon to 3 p.m. and a post-derby concert in River Mill Park. Details at the link.
- The Limberlost Challenge is a trail race at the Limberlost Forest and Wildlife Reserve. There are still a few spots left – details on how to register at the link.
July 7 road and parking lot closures:
- Algonquin Outfitters Lane and King Street, both from Main Street to Dara Howell Way
11 a.m. – 4 p.m. - Main Street from Lorne Street to Brunel Road (the intersections at Centre Street and West Street will remain open until the parade begins)
10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. - River Mill parking lot will also be closed from 4 p.m. on Friday, July 6 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 7
Sunday, July 8 — Ironman Muskoka 70.3
More than 1,800 athletes will be in town (along with their families and supporters) for the Ironman Muskoka 70.3.
Huntsville’s community of volunteers has come together to help with the race on Sunday (with thanks from event organizers), and a few more are still needed if you’re interested in helping. Email Jon Morton of TriMuskoka at 705-788-5911 or [email protected].
- Parking lot volunteers are needed for race morning from 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. to help with parking at the Lions Lookout Field (the old track). Just to help people park correctly and in straight lines—coffee is supplied!
- A few more Lifeguards are needed for the swim portion of the race from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Boats will pick lifeguards up, and station them through the race. This is a paid role.
- A few more Safety Boats are needed during the race to carry lifeguards. If you have a motorized boat that can help from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., contact Jon at the email above.
July 8 road closures
- Main Street will be closed from Centre Street to Chaffey Street between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Brunel Road will be closed from Princess Street to Town Line Road between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Park Drive will be closed from Brunel Road to the Canada Summit Centre between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- The parking lot at the Canada Summit Centre will be closed for the event. from 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 5 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 8.
- The parking lot at Camp Kitchen will also be closed from 8 a.m. on July 7 to 5 p.m. on July 8.
Also watch for athletes and partial/lane closures on these roads:
These Huntsville in-town roads will be partially closed for runners from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.:
- River Street from High St. to Main St.
- Hanes Street from King William St. to Morris St.
- Morris Street from Hanes St. to Cliff Ave.
- Cliff Avenue from Morris St. to Meadow Park Dr.
- Meadow Park Drive from Cliff Ave to Scott St
- Meadow Park Drive/Park Driver from Scott St to Scotts Point Road
- Scott Street from Meadow Park Drive to King William Street
- King William Street from Scott Drive to Rogers Cove Drive
- Rogers Cove Drive from King William St. to Coveside Dr.
- Coveside Drive from Dead End to Szawlowski Dr.
- Szawlowski Drive from Coveside Dr. to Hwy 60
On Hwy 60, runners will use the curbside eastbound lane from Szawloski Drive to Allison’s Point Road.
Brunel Road from Town Line Road to Baysville is open but expect cyclists and delays.
Hwy 117 from Baysville to just past Wolfkin Lake Road near Dorset is open but expect cyclists and delays.
