Enjoy a night On Broadway! with the Muskoka Music Men and guests

The Muskoka Music Men will be presenting their 27th Annual Night of Harmony on August 20th, with the curtain set to rise at 7:30pm.

This year’s show, On Broadway!, will feature hit songs from a variety of Broadway musicals, including Les Miserables, Cabaret, Oliver!, The Lion King and many others.

The chorus is very pleased to have an international champion chorus sharing the stage this year. The North Metro Chorus has won gold at Sweet Adelines International competitions four times, and is always near the top of the rankings. They are well known for stellar harmony, fabulous choreography and stunning costumes. With 55 members expected on stage, they are sure to fill the theatre with sound. You can expect to hear the songs that won at the most recent regional competition, which qualifies them to perform at the 2017 International Competition in Las Vegas this October, plus as special treat they will perform their “Newsies” set which won them the Silver medal in 2015!

Joining the Muskoka Music Men are singers from the North Bay Gateway Harmony Company. There will also be a performance by local quartet 2/4 Time.

The Muskoka Music Men contribute – along with the other Ontario District chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society – to the Harmonize for Speech fund. Since its inception in 1977, more than $5,250,000 has been raised. These funds are used to support speech-related projects and equipment at hospitals, clinics and treatment centres throughout Ontario. Other applications include scholarships and other funding for speech pathology students.

Over the years, the Muskoka Music Men have helped provide equipment to the Huntsville Hospital, as well as funding training materials to support stroke victims and others with aphasia disorders recover their ability to speak.

On Broadway! takes place at Huntsville’s Algonquin Theatre, on Saturday August 20. Tickets are $30 for adults or $15 for students, and are on sale now at the theatre box office. To order, call (705) 789-4975 or order online at www.algonquintheatre.ca.
