More examples of responses to the strong Two Club opening

Today we look at more examples of how you might respond to your partner’s strong Two Club opening.

Case 1:

Spades     xxxxxx

Hearts      xx

Diamonds    xx

Clubs         xxx

Case 1: Partner opens Two Clubs opposite your hand above.  This is a tough one!  You know that you probably have game and maybe slam.  After all, your opening partner has at least 22 points!  You must bid.  Your bid of Two Diamonds makes no promises but forces your partner to bid again.

Case 2:

Spades     AKxxx

Hearts      x

Diamonds    AKxxxx

Clubs         x

Case 2: Partner opens Two Clubs.  You respond Two Spades.  When you next get a chance, bid Diamonds.  That will show partner you have a strong hand with at least six Diamonds and five Spades.  Opening partner can now work out his bidding strategy.

Case 3:

Spades     xxx

Hearts      KQxxx

Diamonds    xxx

Clubs         xx

Case 3: Partner opens Two Clubs.  You have a Heart suit and six points including one length point.  Bid Two Hearts and see what partner bids for his second bid.
