Driver caught doing twice the speed limit on Hwy 11

From Bracebridge OPP on Twitter

On August 31, the Bracebridge OPP reported that they had stopped and charged a driver who was traveling at twice the posted speed limit on Hwy 11 near Gravenhurst in the morning.

The OPP noted the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver’s licence has been suspended for a month and their vehicle has been impounded. “They’ll need a ride to their court date,” tweeted the OPP.

This is happening everywhere these days, with their loud soup can mufflers if any at all it’s like something happened one day that everyone woke up and said it’s time to not use my blinkers or stop at stop signs and drive like major assholes, and jacked up trucks aren’t any better, people have forgotten it’s a privilege not a right and alot of them need that privilege taken away

Up the penalties.Fines, length of vehicle confiscation. Hope the insurance companies are raising rates acoordimg to reflect the amount of speed infraction. Force drivers to take a course on speed dangers to public and themselves before a licence is reissued. If a second infraction double it again. There are so many of the souped up little cars racing”weaving in and out of traffic causing near misses that something tangible needs to be enforced.

This is happening far too often on our Public roads now. Driving is a pribelidge, not a right! Time to pass legislation to make these drivers pay far more than what the current fines allow.

Many drivers are going twice the limit everyday on Centre St. in Huntsville. Some enforcement please.

All kinds of crazy driving on 11. The other day I was trying to merge with my dump truck full of firewood, vehicles moved over and the just as I was coming over, at the end of the merge lane, 2 idiots were racing in their small cars and swerved over into the right lane where I was merging. I had to jamb on my brakes in the gravel shoulder or they would have crashed into me and probably the into the rest of the traffic. They would have lost big time because my truck wasn’t moving much.

Sadly I see this kind of moronic behaviour every single day on our roads. Ravenscliffe Road and South Waseosa Lake Road see to have a disproportionate number of idiot drivers. So much wildlife is lost to speeders. I wish the OPP would set up more radar traps on these roads. They would be catching drivers every few minutes who are speeding excessively. I did get a chuckle the other day though after a black pickup truck passed me on South Waseosa doing probably close to 100 kph or more only to be stopped a minute later by construction. How can we get through to these morons how dangerous excessive speeding is?
