The District of Muskoka wants your input on Strategic Priorities

The District Municipality of Muskoka (District) Council is updating its Strategic Priorities and is currently looking for input from Muskoka residents and community groups. The District also hopes to raise awareness of its many programs, services, and legislated requirements and linkages to local Area Municipalities.

Educational graphics, a draft of the updated Strategic Priorities, and a survey are available on the District’s website. The draft Strategic Priorities can be reviewed and survey completed until June 20, 2016 here.

“We are excited to hear from residents and encourage them to share their ideas and comments,” said John Klinck, District Chair. “This is also a great opportunity to raise awareness of who is responsible for what in Muskoka, so residents can find the programs and services they need. All services are regularly reviewed to make sure they are provided in the most efficient and effective way. Our goal is to help our residents better understand how their government works and how tax dollars are spent.”

Council’s Strategic Priorities are used to guide its decision making. The current draft highlights five strategic priority focus areas:

  • Natural Environment
  • Governance
  • Economy
  • Infrastructure
  • Community

Public input will be encouraged through the District’s website and digital media channels, and feedback can also be submitted directly through the CAO’s Office. Outreach to local agencies and community groups is also planned to ensure they have access to the draft priorities and survey. When the commenting period closes on June 20, 2016, staff will prepare a report on public and community feedback and recommend approval of the revised Strategic Priorities to Council shortly thereafter. Input from the public and comments already received from Area Municipal Councils will be incorporated to reflect a shared vision for Muskoka’s Strategic Priorities.
