Deadline for funding requests from the Town for 2025/6 is June 14

The Town of Huntsville’s annual budget process includes consideration of capital and operating requests from community members and user groups for a new municipal asset, program, or service. Huntsville has launched a new online form for community budget requests; the deadline for submission is June 14, 2024, in order for the request to be considered in the 2025-2026 budget.

“It’s very important that we give community members and groups the opportunity to make budget requests based on their priorities for our Town,” says Julia McKenzie, Director of Financial Services/Treasurer for the Town of Huntsville. “If you or your user group has an idea for a new piece of infrastructure or a program or service that would benefit the community, this is your opportunity for consideration.”

Community members and user groups can formally submit budget requests to the Town using the available online application form. Requests can include full or partial donations of capital assets, with a corresponding budget for the Town’s projected operating costs. As part of the process, requestors will be asked to provide a ten-minute deputation to General Committee to explain the details of their proposal.   

Once all information has been received from the community members and user groups through the online application process, a summary of the requests for the upcoming budget will be presented. Council will then carefully review the proposals and decide which one(s), if any, will be included in the draft budget for consideration. Both short- and long-term costs and benefits to the Community will be considered as part of the review process.
