Criminal harassment charge laid following disturbance on Brunel Road in Huntsville

On April 1, 2026, at 3:05 p.m., members of the Huntsville OPP responded to a disturbance on Brunel Road near Riverside Public School. School staff reported a male pacing on Brunel Road, waving a sign and yelling about his disdain for people.

Upon arrival, police immediately recognized the male and were aware of his court conditions to keep the peace. The male was arrested and transported to the Huntsville OPP detachment.

As a result of the investigation, Robert Hodgson, 50 years old of Huntsville Ontario, is charged with:

  • Criminal Harassment
  • Breach of Recognizance

The accused was held for a bail hearing on April 2, 2026, before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, Ontario.

There was no risk to public safety or to the safety of students and staff. This was an isolated incident.  The school’s concern for its students was its primary focus, and it is commended for ensuring their safety.
