The Town of Huntsville has released remuneration data for council and municipal boards for 2021, as required by the Municipal Act.
Council remuneration and benefits for 2021 were:
*Mayor Karin Terziano: $52,798 plus $3,716 in benefits = $56,514
*Deputy Mayor Nancy Alcock: $26,400 plus $1,763 in benefits = $28,163
Councillor Dan Armour: $24,059 plus $1,590 in benefits = $25,648
Councillor Jason FitzGerald: $24,059 plus $1,590 in benefits = $25,648
Councillor Dione Schumacher: $24,059 plus $1,590 in benefits = $25,648
Councillor Bob Stone: $24,059 plus $1,590 in benefits = $25,648
*Councillor Brian Thompson: $24,059 plus $469 in benefits = $24,528
Councillor Jonathan Wiebe: $24,059 plus $1,590 in benefits = $25,648
*Councillor Tim Withey: $24,059 plus $1,590 in benefits = $25,648
Total: $247,608 plus $15,486 in benefits = $263,094
Councillor benefits include employer health tax and Canada Pension Plan amounts paid by the Town.
Expenses for council as a whole, which include community donations made or special projects approved by Council as a whole, attending events on behalf of the Town, hosting guests, communication materials and travel-related expenses, were $6,030. Mayor Terziano incurred additional expenses of $1,294.60.
Included in these overall council expenses were $2,100 in donations in support of community organizations and $4,000 for a Truth & Reconciliation acknowledgement.
Both the Huntsville Public Library and the Downtown Huntsville BIA have confirmed that no remuneration or expenses were paid to their board members in 2021.
*Four councillors—Mayor Terziano, Deputy Mayor Alcock, and councillors Brian Thompson and Tim Withey—also sit on District Council and received additional remuneration of $22,290 in 2021 for those roles.

What happened to being in politics to serve the community? In no manner is it just for these folk to be making this kind of dime why our town is in shambles…. The locals have unrest and all they do it keep pushing to tourism / move to Muskoka agenda… fix our roads and stop clear cutting… listen to the locals demand not the city folk demands
Make sure you do the addition for District councilors. Not saying it is not worth it as that drive to Bracebridge is long and tedious and the air in that fancy District council chamber is so rarefied you almost need oxygen but the fact is that District councilors make nearly double their local income.
When is Lake of Bays going to publish their data? Maybe just not in Doppler yet?
