Cottage Life says two Muskoka roads among the worst ten

There are some rough roads in Muskoka, according to readers of Cottage Life Magazine.

The magazine recently put out its list of the 10 worst roads in cottage country, as chosen by its readers. The list includes Kahshe Lake Road in Gravenhurst at #6 and Acton Island Road in Muskoka Lakes Township at #9.

The list came out in conjunction with CAA’s Annual Worst Roads in Ontario Report. No local roads cracked the CAA top 10 list.

Here’s the Cottage Life list and you can find a link to the article here.

Golf Course Road off Earl’s Rd north of Hwy 60 Huntsville is so bad someone regularly spray paints all the awful bumps and holes- that is a lot of orange paint!

Obviously, maintaining roads in Muskoka is an ongoing process, battling the effects of frost erosion and run off. We’ve lived on the Etwell Rd for 40 years and it can get pretty rough. However whenever it gets too much, I send photos of the potholes to public works and they usually send the grader out within a few days. I appreciate that.

We have definitely the worst road in Ontario right here in TINY township. It is North Shore Drive and it is the closest thing to driving through a minefield. Try it sometime!

They also missed South Waseosa Lake Road 🙂

Well you have to remember that we invented the pothole on Port Cunnington road and now, after about 100 years or work to perfect it we are exporting it world wide. If we could get a government grant we could maybe export them to Russia.

Seriously thought, Fowler just this last week did an absolutely phenomenal job of putting lovely square patches on the round potholes on Port Cunnington road. Maybe this is the key, to put a square patch on them as all this time the local Lake of Bays roads guys just fill in the round hole and that does not last well.

    Time will tell.
