Huntsville OPP are warning the public that anyone caught vandalizing election signs could face criminal charges.
Reports from the Conservative and Green Party camps indicate that signs are either disappearing or being vandalized.
According to Green Party candidate Glen Hodgson, some of his signs have ended up at a local dump and others have outright disappeared.
Hodgson said it’s disappointing, especially as the Greens recycle their signs and place them only in strategic locations.
MP Tony Clement’s office also received a call from a resident walking on a trail off Kitchen Road, indicating there were a number of signs over a bank.
Police have also received reports of damaged signs in the downtown core, some signs have been cut and others vandalized with paint.
Police are asking anyone with information about these incidents to contact Huntsville OPP at 705-789-5551 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
