It might not have been the literal coldest night of the year – that honour goes to the previous weekend – but the message on Saturday night (February 20) was no less powerful. People in our community are hungry, homeless, or hurting, and sometimes all three at once. Not being able to see them doesn’t make it not so. Fortunately, there are many in our community who care.

By the time the Coldest Night of the Year walk began, 103 walkers on 19 teams had raised $24,790.50 of the Table Soup Kitchen Foundation’s $30,000 goal in online donations with more likely to arrive after the fact. Those funds will be used to support the Foundation’s food bank and various programs. (See Doppler’s earlier story on one of the teams, top fundraisers MBRP Exhausted Walkers, here.)
