What do climate change and whale poo have to do with one another? Find out at an upcoming presentation at Dwight Public Library.
Dave Ireland, Managing Director at the Royal Ontario Museum’s Centre of Discovery in Biodiversity since 2011, has said, “The public will not support what they don’t understand.”
So on April 29, he will present stories that will help attendees understand some of the science out there, particularly in a world full of ‘alternative facts’. And also why whale poo could save the planet.
Ireland, who grew up in Huntsville, is responsible for developing programs, projects and partnerships at the ROM that help people understand and conserve biodiversity. Dave has dedicated his life to sharing his knowledge about nature. He has more than 20 years experience researching, teaching, and working to advocate for the discovery and conservation of biodiversity. He is the founder of the Ontario BioBlitz, a community event that brings taxonomic experts, citizen scientists, and the public together to survey all species (plants, animals, fungi) in a chosen location.
You can follow Dave on Twitter at @davehireland or check out his website here. Better yet, RSVP for his free presentation on April 29. (See the virtual poster below for details.)
