This photo, taken on September 7, 1983, is of Mayor Gord Snell and Park and Recreation Chairman Ken Thompson at the site of the new Centennial Centre. Between the 1960s and 1980s, Huntsville’s Centennial Centre was transformed into a recreation complex with the addition of a swimming pool, community rooms, and support spaces. By the 1980s, the site functioned as a multi-use recreation centre, not just an arena.
