Celebrate with the Huntsville Curling Club on January 31

January 31 is a day you don’t want to miss. As part of the Huntsville Curling Club’s ongoing celebrations marking 125 years in this community, a fun-filled and action-packed day has been planned for you.

Officially, this year, Jan. 31 is recognized as Curling Day in Canada, and you are invited to participate and get to know what your local club is all about.

From 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., members will be at River Mill Park to greet you and encourage you to not only learn about the club’s history as you travel along the “Walk Through the Ages,” but also give Crokicurl a go. This hybrid sport combines the board game Crokinole with the sport of Curling and it is gaining popularity across the country. A dedicated crew has spent many hours building, flooding, and maintaining the rink so it is ready for game day. A very special thank you is extended to Dave Gilroy, owner of The Mill on Main who has graciously allowed the team access to a water source for the ongoing necessary floods. This community support is just another example of why Huntsville Curling Club has endured for 125 years.

The day continues from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with an Open House in the Curling Club at 6 Veterans Way, a short walk from Main Street. Come join the festivities, participate in activities, cheer on celebrity and youth games, and be part of this amazing celebration being broadcast live onsite by TSN.

Mark your calendars. We can’t wait to meet you!
