Submitted by Huntsville Festival of the Arts

The Huntsville Festival of the Arts and the Rotary Club of Huntsville are proud to announce the cast for the upcoming production of the smash hit musical Sister Act running April 17-26, 2020 at the Algonquin Theatre in downtown Huntsville.

Sister Act is the feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film that has audiences jumping to their feet! Featuring original music by Tony- and eight-time Oscar-winner, Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors), this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Response to the open audition call was incredible, and a stellar cast has been assembled that will blow the roof off the Algonquin Theatre. Skye Goulbourne will be taking on the iconic role of Deloris Van Cartier (made famous by Whoopi Goldberg in the movie version), Barb Hartwick will take on the role of Mother Superior, and Jim Kelly will play Eddie. Joining them onstage are: JoAnn Bennett, Meeda Berg, Jamarie Brown, Karen Cassian, Ruth Cassie, Ethan Cochrane, Rob Duncan, Carol Gibson, McKendra Hawley, Shirley Hudson, Adam Jacklin, Kirsty Koop, Mike Koop, Shayne Lebrun, Chuck McClelland, Lisa McIlmoyle, Jen Nicholson, Una Pape, Aussa Penniall, Alberta Robinet, Josie Robinson, Lizzie Robinson, Janice Roy, Jen Simpson, Rachel Thompson, Suzanne Thompson, Sarah Vanasse and Karen Wehrstein.

The production will be directed by Mallary Duncan, a trained theatre artist, who works regularly with the Huntsville Theatre Company (most recently directing Anne of Green Gables the Musical) and also directed a production of Oliver for Huntsville Festival of the Arts in 2018.

“I’m always blown away by the talent in Huntsville!” says Duncan. “We are so fortunate to have all these amazing people sharing their energy and skills. They are going to have audiences dancing and singing the aisles!”

Working with Duncan to bring the production to life are: stage manager Pat Lightfoot, production designers Janet Copland and Robbie Duncan, costume designer Barb Hartwick, head of wardrobe Joan Jerrett, music director Alana Nuedling, choreographer Jamarie Brown, lighting designer Martin Smith, and producers Will Gibson and Dan Watson.

Regular tickets for Sister Act can be purchased through the Algonquin Theatre box office, online, or by phone for $30 for adults or $20 for students. Special prices (available only by calling the box office) are available for a family of four ($90) and for groups of 10 or more (only $25 per ticket). All prices are plus HST.
