Look at that Ford truck! Did you ever dine at the Canton Restaurant? We’re not sure when it closed down.

Rob Adamson says
I think it was sometime in the early 2000’s.
Bill Spring says
That’s correct.
I ate lunch there at least once a week for years.
Key (wrong spelling) and his wife were great hosts.
Best sweet and sour chicken balls, around.
Bob Sharpe says
^ Rob – this picture would be early 90’s as the store to the right was only there briefly, I knew the owners “Great Things”. That said I never was brave enough to enter the Canton. I was back in town briefly around 2004 and a co-worker from Toronto attempted to grab dinner there. He sat down and nobody came to his table, a fellow patron said “you need to go order from the cook” – he just left. I dont think they were in business much longer
Allen Markle says
Never thought I had to be brave to enter a restaurant. But I must have been because Tricia and I ate there often enough. Easy to just drop in after she had finished at Flotron’s. Always good food and a newspaper handy while you waited.
Don’t remember having to order from the kitchen but I do remember a lady who worked there regularly, and that it was often the same people we would encounter there.
And even if I had to order at the kitchen, I think I could have got it done. Couldn’t have been much further to the kitchen door than to the exit. But maybe it is better that the man telling Bob Sharpe the story just left, rather than order.
In an hour he would likely have been hungry again.
Nathan Cockram says
I do remember eating there before going to the movie theatre up the road. Changed days.
Mary Jane & Brian Smith says
We still talk about the great food and the nice owners from the Canton.
We remember and miss it every time we decide we would like some Chinese food.
The very best in our memories!
Terry McCaffery says
Always great food at the Canton! Bill Spring is correct: Key, his wife and the girls were always great hosts! Key always asked how my Mom was doing when I was picking up take-out! Miss the Canton!
