Cancer screening and what you should know if you are an unattached patient

People without a primary care provider in Canada may miss the opportunity to be screened for
breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer as recommended by Cancer Care Ontario.

Miller Drive, Huntsville. Cancer Screening for Unattached Patients is hosted by Dr. Melanie Mar, Family Physician at The Annex Clinic for unattached patients,lLead physician, Algonquin Family Health Team.

ABOUT THE EVENT

  • A presentation on the value of cancer screening and who is eligible.
  • A safe space for women who want to discuss and arrange a Pap/HPV test or
    mammogram to check for early signs of cervical or breast cancer.
  • An opportunity for men and women to discuss and arrange for colon cancer screening.
  • Refreshments will be provided.

WHO CAN ATTEND?
Patients who do not have a primary care provider in Muskoka and:

  • If you are 25-69 yrs old, have a cervix, have ever been sexually active; have never had
    cervical screening; or have not had a Pap test in the last 3 years, then a Pap/HPV test
    is recommended.
  • If you are a 40-74-year-old woman, Two-Spirit, trans, or non-binary person, have never had
    a mammogram; or have not had one in the last 2 years, then a mammogram may be
    recommended.
  • If you are a 50-74-year-old person who has not had a stool test in the past 2 years or a
    colonoscopy in the past 10 years, then a fecal-immunochemical test (FIT) may be
    recommended.
  • ANY unattached patient in the Muskoka and Almaguin area who wants to learn more
    about cancer screening and community services for people without a doctor or nurse
    practitioner.

We’re happy to help you get to the event. Transportation support is available. Let us know on
registration what your needs are.
If you are driving, please park at the back of the Hospice building and look for the signs to the
event.
