Bruce Micheal Shaw

September 27, 1964 – January 11, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father and Brother Bruce Shaw.

Bruce was born in Huntsville, Ontario, on September 27, 1964, to Margret and Norman Shaw of Huntsville.

Never one to allow grass to grow under his feet for too long, he was a true world traveller, exploring Europe, Asia, and South America with his close friend Barry Reid. They were a modern-day Stanley and Livingston, a Lewis and Clarke, with a touch of Carey and Daniels mixed in for fun.

Bruce loved sports; his beloved Seahawks were his first love, but Lacrosse, Basketball, and, of course, Golf were a very important part of his world. Bruce played Junior B Lacrosse with his hometown Hawks and High School Basketball; he later went on to coach and referee both sports at the club level.

He married Julie Yates in 1992, a devoted father who loved his children and was very involved with their lives, even into adulthood when he could.

Bruce was our true Party Animal throughout his life but really started to settle down later in life, working for the local school board in Northern Manitoba. He was really starting to get his world together when he developed a form of lung cancer.

Bruce is survived by his daughter Madison, his son Gavin (Megan Moon-Shaw), Julie Yates, his sister Barbara and brother David.

There will not be a formal funeral; however, a Memorial/Celebration of life will be held later this year in the Seattle area.
