A Lithium Battery Energy Storage System proposed in Armour has certainly garnered the attention of area residents. The project (a 4.99 MW lithium-ion battery energy storage system) has secured approval from the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) to be established at 219 Peggs Mountain Road in Armour Township. This approval from IESO is a key regulatory step for connecting to Ontario’s electrical system. However, local municipal approvals — including amendments to the Official Plan, zoning bylaws, and site plan approval by the Township of Armour — are still in process and have not yet been finalized.
