Erin Leslie is a coach, a teacher and player #7 for the Kelsey’s Ladies Slo Pitch Team. She has been playing ball for about five years as an Outfielder and Rover and earned the Most Valuable Player nod for her team this season.
Her coach, Darren Lupton, nominated Erin and wanted to surprise her. He says that she plays with enthusiasm. “The way she plays is contagious. If the team is down, all it takes is for her to go to the plate, crush the ball the way she is known to, and the team comes alive.”
Erin’s teammates and opponents know her for her arm strength. “She is feared for being able to throw a batter out at first base from the outfield, stopping any momentum the other team may have,” said Lupton. “Erin has the ability to make her teammates give 100 per cent in the game just by the way she plays.”
Erin shows respect on the field and is also respected around the ball diamonds. It is quite common to see a group of young kids that she has either coached or taught at school in the stands watching her play or talking with her between innings.
There is still one more month of ball left, so next time you are out at the diamonds look for Erin and her Kelsey’s teammates to cheer them on.
