Assault trial set for Bracebridge OPP officer

A Bracebridge OPP officer is now set for trial in February of 2025 on charges of assault causing bodily harm.

Constable Scott Anthony is accused of assaulting a 43-year-old man in a Canadian Pacific railway yard in Mactier in July 2022. The charges against Anthony came as a result of an investigation by the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).

The alleged incident was captured on a surveillance camera. The surveillance footage appears to show two officers arriving on the scene after being called to a suspected break-and-enter and trespass. The suspect on the video appears to be tasered and kicked multiple times while on the ground. The suspect was subsequently hospitalized for serious injuries.

Anthony is currently on leave from the force. The OPP have said the second officer involved in the incident is no longer employed by the OPP.

The 2025 trial is set to take place in Huntsville.

I know the police are frustrated with the system they work for.
I know first hand that if anyone else did that crime that the officer committed would have a minimum of 3 charges against them and be held till hearing.
Plus why wasn’t the other officer also charged for not stopping the crime that his partner committed?
Weapons dangerous, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon …..
I feel that justice system has been broken for a very long time and if they take an officers word as gospel in the courts the judges need to make an example of these situations
No one should not be above the laws that are in place.
To gift someone a warning about window tint and the same day you look in the police parking lot and at lest three personal vehicles have tinted windows?????
