Huntsville Doppler intern reporter Danielle McPherson caught up with these three ladies in downtown Huntsville and asked them which potholes they felt were the worst in the town.

“Centre Street. The one on Centre Street just after Minerva Street. Thank goodness I mostly walk because it saves the car.”

“Meadow park drive is really rough. There are some big holes in there and they just fill up with water. And then I know somewhere on the King William stretch there’s one that is getting pretty bad.”

“I live on Meadow Park; half the road turns into a lake. It’s just horrible! Not good for the cars.”
You know the pothole was invented in Port Cunnington.
Despite this local success story the District, working with the local township, has been conducting tests of pothole design in various locations with the goal of franchising the design world wide and making so much money from this effort that our taxes will fall to zero.
Honest!
Throw and go hot patching and expecting cars to compress the asphalt seems to be the only way the town knows. Repairs to brakes, tires, mufflers, alignment and suspension from the jarring are expensive, fixing your loose teeth from the rattling even more.
Imagine the danger to cyclists, motorcycles and mopeds.
Is there a number to report dangerous potholes, and what’s the liability to the town for taking too long to “fix” the problem?
I have been walking around Huntsville the last few weeks since the snow has left and I can attest to the fact that the potholes pointed out by these 3 ladies are indeed bad. However if you want to see THE worst road in the town of Huntsville wander over to Dairy Lane. From the beginning at center st to the other end at West it is an absolute mess. Potholes, heaving pavement, culverts heaving up the road a good 4 inches and large pieces of pavement cracked or missing this street has it all ! You drive it at your peril. If there are any town officials reading this I suggest you go over and have a good look. It sure would be nice to see a town works truck come over and at least fill in some of the chasms in this road before we lose a vehicle in one.

Foe several years, I’ve been emailing the Muskoka District Road department asking them, at the least, to re-pave the bends on Britannia Road. Try to drink a hot coffee on that road! Cyclist, motorcycles, joggers and cars would like to enjoy their trip down this road. It rattles the heck out of our cars and bodies. So when?
