A Huntsville Curling Club (HCC) in-house bonspiel for seniors—”The Schlenker” in memory of long-time HCC member and volunteer, Gerhard Schlenker—has been held on four occasions in support of Hospice Huntsville.
During the event, participants make donations to Hospice Huntsville. Gerhard’s widow, Susi, donates a trophy and prizes for the winners.
This year’s event raised $520 and to date “The Schlenker” has raised more than $2,000 for Hospice Huntsville.
“This wonderful facility has greatly assisted numerous families including the Schlenkers and is very worthy of our support,” said a representative for the curling club.
“We are so grateful for the continued support of the Gerhard Schlenker Memorial Bonspiel,” said Melissa Polischuk, Fund Development & Public Relations Coordinator for Hospice Huntsville. “Over the past four years their financial support has enriched end of life care in our community.”
