Almaguin OPP participate in 2025 Special Olympics Torch Run

From the Almaguin Highlands OPP

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, members of the Almaguin Highlands OPP took part in the 2025 Special Olympics Torch Run, joining community members to raise funds and awareness for individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Almaguin region.

Four local walks were held in Burk’s Falls, Sundridge, South River, and at Almaguin Highlands Secondary School, bringing together residents and supporters for a common cause.

Local fire departments from Burk’s Falls, Sundridge, and South River were also on hand, helping with traffic control, cheering on participants, and showing strong support for the Special Olympics community.

For over 35 years, Almaguin Special Olympics has provided year-round sports opportunities, promoting health, confidence, and friendship for local athletes.

Funds raised will support local programs and ensure athletes continue to thrive both on and off the field.
