Almaguin OPP investigate fatal snowmobile collision in Kearney

The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal snowmobile collision in Kearney.

On February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Almaguin Highlands OPP officers responded to a report of a single snowmobile collision into a tree on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) Trail AL301 in Kearney.

The driver, a 51-year-old male of Whitby, Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists (TCI) are assisting with the investigation.

OFSC Trail AL301 was closed at the intersection of OFSC D Trail for the investigation, and the trail has since reopened.
