Fire officials across Almaguin Highlands are urging residents to exercise extreme caution as the region’s fire danger rating has been elevated to HIGH.
No daytime burning is permitted in either Almaguin Highlands or Muskoka under current conditions. Any fires that are allowed must be kept small, constantly supervised, and equipped with a nearby water source and appropriate tools to ensure they can be quickly contained if necessary.
The fire danger rating is determined using the Fire Weather Index, which considers factors such as temperature, wind speed, humidity, and recent rainfall. With dry conditions persisting across the region, fire departments are reminding residents to review local burn bylaws and restrictions before starting any outdoor fire, as the risk of wildfires remains elevated.
