ADVISORY: North Mary Lake Beach is closed due to concerns regarding water quality and will remain closed until further notice

The Town of Huntsville would like to notify residents that the North Mary Lake Beach is closed due to concerns regarding water quality and will remain closed until further notice. The release of a beaver dam in close proximity to the beach has caused stagnant water and higher than normal levels of E. coli, due to animal feces, to flow into the water near North Mary Lake beach. It is anticipated that more run-off will continue to effect the water surrounding the beach and the Town expects the beach to remain closed until further notice. It has been suggested by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit that residents with properties in close proximity to the beach should have their wells tested. Residents can pick up well water testing kits at Town Hall, 37 Main Street East or at the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit Office located at 34 Chaffey Street.

For more information about well water testing please refer to www.simcoemuskokahealth.org. For more information with respect to water quality please contact the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, Emergency Health Connection at 1-877-721-7520 ext. 8811. Beach Closure signage has been posted at the beach and will remain until such time as the closure is lifted.
