Accident closes Hwy. 60 and paramedics responding also hit moose

It was mayhem in Algonquin Park this weekend.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, paramedics responding to a collision with a moose near Tea Lake also hit a moose on their way to help the two people involved in the first incident.

The ambulance suffered severe damage, but fortunately the paramedics were not hurt. During the initial accident the paramedics were responding to, two people were injured. One of them, a 40-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries, was eventually transferred to a trauma centre in Toronto. The other, a 45-year-old man, was reported in stable condition and remained at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
