Young philanthropists Griffin, 7, and Sofia, 4, raise another $2,000 for SickKids

Wet weather couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of two young, community-minded Huntsville residents. Griffin and Sofia Graham held their fourth annual lemonade stand for SickKids in front of Huntsville Home Hardware on Saturday, June 17. Along with a barbecue held behind the store they raised a total of $2,000.

Sofia and Graham wouldn’t share their recipe for the lemonade, part of the secret to their success. But mom Christine Barkey thanked those who helped with that success by providing delicious treats to pair with the lemonade. “Many generous bakers help out with this,” she said. “Staff, friends and family, many people who have made many dozens of cookies to support SickKids.”

Although Griffin and Sofia plan to be back at it next year for their fifth SickKids fundraiser, Griffin doesn’t intend to make a career out of it. “I like playing soccer,” he said. “I want to be a soccer coach.”

“This is the first I’ve heard of it,” laughed his dad, Mike Graham, in response.

With the funds raised this year, Griffin and Sofia have raised a total of $6,000 for SickKids.
