Wolf spotted on Fairy Lake

This photo was submitted by Renee Graham. This beautiful wolf was spotted close to her home on Echo Bay. She wanted to let others know that wolves have crossed the ice and are close to homes.

“We don’t typically see wolves close to our home on Fairy Lake. Maybe it’s perfectly normal?” she writes.

Last Thursday shortly after 9pm. Came Across a wolf on Hunterbay trail and yes I seen it behind me watching me. Went back the next day and sure enough, where I walked it did too. So creepy but awesome as well. Very cool to see one.

    Beautiful creatures!

You have neighbours on Echo Bay who feed wildlife, attracting deer, etc. Perfect set up for wolves to take down a deer right in your own backyard.

We are losing so much natural habitat here, no surprise we’re seeing normally shy creatures in town.

Not that this is a particularly attractive story but a pair of wolves took down a deer at the end of the Timber Bay peninsula in the past week. Wolves just being wolves, I guess.

How fortunate you are! When wolves show up their environment becomes healthy again on so many levels. Fascinating reading if you have the time!
