Does anyone remember this store where the Wooden Penny is now located? Where do you shop for ladies’ clothing in Huntsville?

I bought maternity clothes, nightgowns, housecoat, Parkhurst sweaters. I was a regular. I don’ t recall that they moved to the mall. The Clothes Closet that was downtown did move to the mall.
I can remember when this was ‘Ewings- Vanity Fair’. I didn’t know Bob as a purveyor of women’s clothes, but he could be a flashy dresser himself. Colourful stuff.
One year, the fire-hydrant in front of Dr. Cloutier’s house let go. The rush of water was doing a job on the lawns and river shore. Bob was all for buying strawberries and having neighbors over to watch.
He owned a lawnmower with a penchant for catching fire after he had filled it with gas. He wouldn’t wait for the fumes to dissipate before starting it again, and the fire was a regular thing. But Bob knew he could call my Uncle George to get it running again. To subdue the flames, Bob would just push the mower off the edge of the dock. We would dry it off and clean it up.
And somebody has a nerve! Asking a guy where he buys his women’s clothing!
I definitely remember this store. They had a wonderful selection of ladies clothes. They eventually moved to the mall.
How about Ruby’s men’s wear?
Now we have the internet, Marks and Walmart.
You know, Walmart’s corporate goal is predicated on the fact that in about another 30 years there will only be ONE retailer in North America and they will be it.
I’m not sure this is a good trend.
