At last night’s inaugural Parry Sound-Muskoka Liberal Women’s Club meeting, Trisha Cowie announced that she is running for candidacy in the Liberal Party for this riding in the 2019 federal election.
She is a lawyer and the owner of Cowie Law Professional Corporation in Bala and is also a volunteer with the YWCA and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Muskoka.
Cowie, a First Nations woman, has been very vocal and present in the Parry Sound-Muskoka communities, particularly expressing her support of affordable housing, women’s rights and Indigenous rights.
Having run in the previous federal election, Cowie said she is motivated to finish what she started in 2015 and wants to be there for her community at the grassroots level.
“We’ve never had a female indigenous MP so it’s time to finally crack through that glass ceiling,” said Cowie.

Terrific news for Parry Sound-Muskoka and Mr. Trudeau’s Liberals. The timing couldn’t be better in the wake of the revelations about Mr. Clement. Trisha, you should carry a majority of the female vote; as well as an appreciable number of males, who support women’s/aboriginals’ rights. Best of luck to you!
To anyone who puts themselves out to serve the public, I wish them all the best.
Very glad to hear that Ms. Cowie will be running for the Liberals in the next federal election! She was most impressive at the local all-candidates forum held before the last federal election! Wishing her good luck!
Fantastic news for Muskoka!!!
