Town releases annual list of staff earning greater than $100,000

A staff report presented at the February 28 General Committee meeting outlined the Town of Huntsville’s top earners. The full report is included below.

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996, requires organizations that receive public funding from the province of Ontario to disclose annually the names, positions, salaries and taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in a calendar year.

The act was brought in under the Mike Harris-led Progressive Conservative government in 1996. At the time, Harris said it served as an important check on the public payroll. If the list was adjusted for inflation since 1996 the real benchmark would now be approximately $150,000.

The Ministry of Finance website provides the current year and archival years and can be accessed by visiting their website www.fin.gov.on.ca/en/publications/salarydisclosure/pssd/ and selecting “municipalities”.

As per our reporting obligations under the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, the table below illustrates our reporting for 2017:

During 2017 the Director of Development Services position was a secondment by the District of Muskoka before the current incumbent was full time with the Town of Huntsville. Therefore, the Town of Huntsville has no report for the Director of Development Services as the salary for the secondment is recorded with the District of Muskoka and the earnings from the Town of Huntsville for the remainder of the year were under the disclosure threshold for 2017.

The Library probably has the highest use of any town owned building and serves the most diverse taxpayers. Programs for all ages.

WOW .. Chief Librarian earns $119,271.39 … my CPP & OAS is just under a $1000 / month! No wonder my taxes are so high with wages like this … and … this is not them all! WOW!
