Town of Huntsville Significant Weather Event update – February 18, 2025

The Town of Huntsville continues to respond to the Significant Weather Event declared on Sunday, February 16, 2025. The recent storm brought 40-50 cm of snow, creating challenging road and sidewalk conditions. During this event, residents should expect delays in standard service levels.

Public Works crews are actively clearing roads and sidewalks, with additional crews brought in to assist with snow removal and road widening. A grader will begin work tomorrow to improve rural road access by winging back snowbanks.

Crews are prioritizing high-traffic urban roads before moving to secondary routes in rural areas. Residents are reminded to keep sidewalks and roads clear of parked vehicles to allow plows to operate efficiently.

 Important Reminders:

  • Do NOT allow children to play in or near roadside snowbanks, as snowplow operators and other drivers may not see them.
  • Crews are prioritizing critical travel routes before moving to residential streets. Please be patient as they work to improve road conditions.
  • Give snowplows plenty of space to operate and adjust your driving to match road and weather conditions.
  • When parking in driveways, avoid blocking sidewalks to ensure pedestrian pathways remain clear.

The District of Muskoka also declared a significant weather event effective February 15 at 3 p.m. which pertains to all District roads.
