Stubb’s Falls Arrowhead

This is Huntsville: Stubb’s Falls | Video

Our video series, This is Huntsville, brings you the people and places of Huntsville, past and present.

At Huntsville’s northern edge and just a short drive from downtown, you’ll find Arrowhead Provincial Park. In the winter months, the park offers cross-country ski and snowshoe trails, an überpopular skating trail, and a tubing hill. (Equipment rentals are available at the visitor centre.)

At just over two kilometres long, the scenic Stubb’s Falls Trail offers an easy way to enjoy a sunny afternoon outdoors. Although marked as a snowshoe trail in the winter, it can usually be hiked in solid boots. (Watch out for icy spots, though.) The trail starts just south of Arrowhead Lake and follows the eastern bank of the Little East River, crosses a bridge just above Stubb’s Falls, and then loops back along the western bank of the river.

Check the park’s ski report for trail closures before you head out. Park fees apply. The park is open until March 29, 2020 for winter activities and then closed until May 8.
