For many, the first experience people have of Huntsville is through a vacation or a long weekend getaway. Often, those who come to visit quickly fall in love with the area and want to stay. Hidden Valley is considered a mixed-use neighbourhood, with homes and businesses near one another, but no industry or manufacturing is done in the area. Once Peninsula Lake and its trees were a major resource for logging. As the region developed into a luxury cottage destination, the importance of preserving the pristine nature of Hidden Valley became a focal point instead. To this day residents and organizations such as the Peninsula Lake Association, work together to keep this forested jewel and idyllic lake healthy and vibrant.

From Hidden Valley Resort in the ski area, to Deerhurst Resort located nearby on the shores of Peninsula Lake, around the water and among the trees, there are luxurious resorts to enjoy.
