Do you remember when Huntsville had this grocery store on Main Street? Did you shop there? (Photo by Evan Jenkins).

I also remember Dominion with fond memories as I worked there as a cashier. Those were the best days
I fondly remember being given the “broken” butter tarts from the “Butter Tart Lady” as I called her as a small child. She always was smiling and made my day.
Thank you Fran Coleman 🙂
Egg salad sandwiches at the sandwich bar were great! Always brought change to get one.
I also remember when I was a little kid running with a shopping cart; I smashed into and knocked over an entire display of bics pickles. Didn’t get in trouble from the store but my mom let me have it!
Brings back happy memories. It looks like the Northland bus too, ready to make a turn onto Centre Street (or Main Street) – was nice in those days that there was actually a bus station (and a cafe) at the Empire Hotel. Last I heard you have to wait in the cold on Ravenscliffe Road somewhere now?? (Not all change is good)
Our cottage was in Port Sydney since 1965. Went to the Dominion many times. Remember as a kid having there red hot hotdogs of the roller’s many times. Was a treat. Cheers 🥂
Great photo. Someone told me that it looks like Rudy Baker heading towards the Dominion Grocery store where his wife worked. Or maybe he’s just walking back to his Barber Shop in the Empire Block to cut someones hair. Miss both location and Rudy and the gang a lot.
They had a great snack bar. My mom and I used to have lunch there.
